OUR STORY

It all started with a love and enjoyment of the outdoors from childhood. Van started fishing as a toddler, and I started sitting in a deer stand with my dad as a toddler and took up bird hunting in junior high.

Fast forward to our college years, where a friendship was born between Van and I when we met in Lubbock, Texas, attending Texas Tech University. I knew Van had the fishing bug when I witnessed him walking into an engineering class coming straight from the lake after an all-night fishing trip (literally no sleep or shower until after class).

Life after college, we moved to Houston, married, and started a lifelong journey of outdoor memories and experiences from camping, hiking, fishing and hunting whenever we could make it happen. Each time a trip was taken, there were discussions and daydreams about owning land “one day”, and so long-term planning for the perfect land spot began.

In 2015, Van found gorgeous Texas land equal distance to both our hometowns so we could be close to both our families. The Mills County property is beautiful with 200-year-old Oak trees, native grasses, flowers and reliable water sources.

The naming and establishing of the Grand Oaks Ranch began with a multi-year labor of love investment in property improvements, and in 2019 Fisher Wildlife LLC was formed.
